DECLASSIFIED American government documents show that the US intelligence community ran a campaign in the Fifties and Sixties to build momentum for a united Europe. It funded and directed the European federalist movement.
The documents confirm suspicions voiced at the time that America was working aggressively behind the scenes to push Britain into a European state. One memorandum, dated July 26, 1950, gives instructions for a campaign to promote a fully fledged European parliament. It is signed by Gen William J Donovan, head of the American wartime Office of Strategic Services, precursor of the CIA.
The documents were found by Joshua Paul, a researcher at Georgetown University in Washington. They include files released by the US National Archives. Washington's main tool for shaping the European agenda was the American Committee for a United Europe, created in 1948. The chairman was Donovan, ostensibly a private lawyer by then.
The vice-chairman was Allen Dulles, the CIA director in the Fifties. The board included Walter Bedell Smith, the CIA's first director, and a roster of ex-OSS figures and officials who moved in and out of the CIA. The documents show that ACUE financed the European Movement, the most important federalist organisation in the post-war years. In 1958, for example, it provided 53.5 per cent of the movement's funds.
The European Youth Campaign, an arm of the European Movement, was wholly funded and controlled by Washington. The Belgian director, Baron Boel, received monthly payments into a special account. When the head of the European Movement, Polish-born Joseph Retinger, bridled at this degree of American control and tried to raise money in Europe, he was quickly reprimanded.
The leaders of the European Movement - Retinger, the visionary Robert Schuman and the former Belgian prime minister Paul-Henri Spaak - were all treated as hired hands by their American sponsors. The US role was handled as a covert operation. ACUE's funding came from the Ford and Rockefeller foundations as well as business groups with close ties to the US government.
The head of the Ford Foundation, ex-OSS officer Paul Hoffman, doubled as head of ACUE in the late Fifties. The State Department also played a role. A memo from the European section, dated June 11, 1965, advises the vice-president of the European Economic Community, Robert Marjolin, to pursue monetary union by stealth.
It recommends suppressing debate until the point at which "adoption of such proposals would become virtually inescapable".

„World-wide Unity Becoming Reality.” is the title of an exceptional video clip.
Watching the clip, from 00:20 - 00:27 you can see this blog. Thanks for the author!
The new think tank - European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) - was launched on Tuesday (2 October) by fifty founding members such as former prime ministers, presidents, European commissioners, MEPs and ministers as well as intellectuals, business leaders, and cultural figures from the EU member states and candidate countries.
In a hungarian article, the Magyarhirlap make note of George Soros who is financing the ECFR.
The hottest selling book in China right now is called "Currency Wars," which makes the case that the U.S. Federal Reserve is a puppet of the Rothschilds banking dynasty and it has persuaded some top officials Beijing should resist America's demands to appreciate its own undervalued currency, the yuan.
Meanwhile, Song Hongbing, the author of China's runaway bestseller, "The Currency Wars," says he's pleasantly surprised at the 200,000 copies his book has sold. He is probably not eager to see the dollar punished as he lives in Washington, D.C.
"I never imagined it could be so hot and that top leaders would be reading it," he says during a book tour in Shanghai. "People in China are nervous about what's going on in financial markets, but they don't know how to handle the real dangers. This book gives them some ideas."
Among the research findings that shocked him most was that the Fed is a privately owned and run bank.
"I just never imagined a central bank could be a private body."
Rothschild dynasty unites after 190 years
The French and English branches of the Rothschild banking dynasty are to unify ownership of the firm in a single holding company for the first time since the family separated in the 19th century.
Nowadays Hungarians live in a deep sorrow, hurted by ….(it’s so long to write now)… This causes a huge depression in the population, then it is so hard to attract the attention to what is happening now in America. Today I found an excellent article which answers my motivation, why I spend my time writing this blog.
The author of the article, prof. László Bogár is trying to explain the deep insight of the phenomenon of what is happening in Hungary. His conclusion is that the entire circus is an organized manipulation to distract the attention of the population, until that the essential cause of the problem is completely hidden. The main message of his writing is that, everybody in Hungary should look around, in a little bit global context.
I agree with him, that is exactly what I also would like to do with this blog.
Daniel McAdams posted an article, with the title Heil the Red Vanguard!
Most of the Hungarians couldn’t figure out what’s happened in behind. What Daniel McAdams wrote seems to be a proof of what I have read in a hungarian book „Hungary and the globalization" written by László Bogár.
Most of you may already know this but I wanted to post this to make a point of why it is so important for us to elect a head of state (President) ,ie., Ron Paul that is a Constitutionalist first and foremost, and has shown his commitment to the Constitution and the rights of the individual over the long haul by his consistent voting record in Congress.
One of my pet peeves is how the word “Democracy” has crept to the forefront when referring to the form of government this country is suppose to represent when the actual form of government of the United States is a Constitutional Republic.
A pure Democracy is nothing more than “mob rule” with no provisions for the rights of the individual. The Founding Fathers saw this as one of the worst forms of government and in their wisdom provided a framework to secure the rights of the individual, ie., a Constitution and a Bill of Rights with separation of powers subject to Judicial Review which is the “Rule of Law” we live under.
True that we do elect our head of state and representatives by a Democratic system, ie., majority popular vote. (Although with the Electoral College and the Florida debacle that’s even in question), but that aside, once our head of state and representatives are elected democratically they are bound by their oath of office to “uphold, obey and defend the Constitution, so help them God” thus a Constitutional Republic.
A constitutional republic is a state where the head of state and other officials are elected as representatives of the people and must govern according to existing constitutional law that limits the government's power over citizens. In a constitutional republic, executive, legislative, and judicial powers are separated into distinct branches and the will of the majority of the population is checked by protections for individual rights so that no individual or group has absolute power. The fact that a constitution exists that limits the government's power, makes the state constitutional. That the head(s) of state and other officials are chosen by election, rather than inheriting their positions, and that their decisions are subject to judicial review makes a state republican.
Unlike a pure democracy, in a constitutional republic, citizens are not governed by the majority of the people but by the rule of law.Constitutional Republics are a deliberate attempt to hold in check the threat of mobocracy thereby protecting dissenting individuals from the tyranny of the majority by placing checks on the power of the majority of the population. The power of the majority of the people is checked by limiting that power to electing representatives who govern within limits of overarching constitutional law rather than the popular vote having legislative power itself. John Adams defined a constitutional republic as "a government of laws, and not of men."Also, the power of government officials is checked by allowing no single individual to hold executive, legislative and judicial powers. Instead these powers are separated into distinct branches that serve as a check and balance on each other. A constitutional republic is designed so that "no person or group [can] rise to absolute power."
The original framers of the United States Constitution were notably cognizant of what they perceived as a danger of majority rule in oppressing freedom and liberty of the individual. For example, James Madison, in Federalist Paper No. 10, advocates a constitutional republic over a democracy to protect the individual from the majority. The framers carefully created the institutions within the Constitution and the United States Bill of Rights. They kept what they believed were the best elements of majority rule. But they were mitigated by a constitution with protections for individual liberty, a separation of powers.
Since Ron Paul often mention Murray N. Rothbard, I had to discover his great work. Today I found a remarkable article in „The Irrepressible Rothbard”, a chapter from this book, „BUT WHAT ABOUT THE HUNGARIANS?”
Essay of Murray N. Rothbard,
Edited by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.
Here it is the hungarian translation.
